The application submitted by Rykga is as follows:

Quote:
Name : Rykga
Game : World of Warcraft
Server : US - Ner'zhul
Level : 85
Gender : Female
Faction : Alliance
Race : Human
Class : Paladin
Spec 1 : Holy
Spec 2 : Hybrid

WoW Armory
be.imba.hu
WoW Heroes

What's your first name? Guy/Girl? How old are you? Where are you from?:
Jenn, 26, Canada

Tell us about yourself. Go.:
I'm a perpetual student from Eastern Canada who lives on an island in the middle of that Atlantic Ocean (Newfoundland). I'm on my last semester of pharmacy school. I'm a rather shy person, so it takes me awhile to start talking, but I'm friendly and like people. I'm just more of a listener than a talker.

I play a holy paladin that I adore, but I do occasionally run with other specs (since soloing as holy isn't the most convenient way to play). I do write a WoW blog on which I'm pretty open about myself, so I will disclose it: bossypally.wordpress.com. You can get a pretty good idea of my personality and how I write about the guilds I'm in from the last few posts.

What are the names of Ner'zhul characters we can contact you on?:
Rykga, Snowfia, Eloïse

What are your goals in the game?:
Right now, I just want to relax and have a good time around fun people. I do want to keep up on my raiding skills and knowledge of my class, but I don't have the time or energy to be raiding full time these days.

What about Team Sport interests you the most?:
My healing lead from my past guild (Conquest) got me in touch with Thespius and we chatted a bit. I was looking to take it easy on WoW, raiding occasionally. He said you guys were looking for a standby/fill in healer and pointed me toward the website.

I really liked that you seem to be a tight knit group of players who actually enjoy being around each other. I'm coming from a progression focused guild where performance > person, so reading your guild website felt like a breath of fresh air.

What's your basic play schedule? How often would we see you around Azeroth?:
I'm available in the evenings, so around 4-5 server until about 8ish server. The amount of time I play is variable. I took a step back from WoW over the past week since leaving my old guild, but when I enjoy the people I'm playing with, I'm around much more.

If something goes horribly wrong in a Battleground or Raid, how do you react?:
I sigh and try again. When it comes to the game, I'm very patient. I'm that person who spends 3+ hours in the same heroic pug and enjoys every second.

Have you ever seen a Monty Python movie? If so, what did you think?:
Love it! The Meaning of Life is my favorite.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?:
Teleportation.

Team Sport isn't what most would define a "raiding guild". This is not to say that raiding does not occur. A majority of our members have a strong desire to raid end-game content while still fresh but not prioritize raiding over real life.

Membership in Team Sport does not automatically qualify you for the scheduled Team Sport raids that DO occur.

The only simple way for me to put this is: EVERY RUN IS A TRYOUT.

The raids that occur are taken seriously. Showing up late, unprepared, or with a lack of desire to give 100% for the raid's duration will not be tolerated. Calendar invites are to be updated regularly whenever a conflict arises.

DO NOT ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS unless you plan to apply for a raiding spot after your Team Sport application process is finished. While I do believe in brevity, you should be as specific as possible in the details for the following answers.

What can you bring to the raiding aspect of Team Sport?:
- Good knowledge of paladin healing
- Teamwork skills
- Positive attitude
- Deep love of log analysis
- Attention to detail
- Strict work ethics: I push myself to be the best I can be, regardless of circumstances.

Discuss your raiding experience. Only content that was current at the time should be listed. (Molten Core at level 80 is not something we're impressed by):
I started raiding in BC with Gruuls. Did SSC, TK and BT, minus the final bosses for each.

In Wrath I did Naxx, most of Ulduar's normal modes (some hard modes) as a tanking paladin. During ToC, I switched to a more progressive guild, and back to healing, where we got 4/5 ToGC 25 and 11/12 heroic ICC 25.

In Cata, I got as far as 9/12 on 25 man with my old guild, missing Cho'gall (know the fight but never beat it), Nefarian and Al'Akir.

Discuss your Talent choices, enchants, and gems. Why did you take that route?:
Right now I have one Holy with Pursuit of Justice spec since I felt I needed the run bonus more than the extra healing from PotI and EJ. I skipped the Eternal Glory talent since I rarely used Word of Glory in a raid setting (this might change if 10 man raiding calls for more WoG). I've got glyphs of Holy Shock and Seal of Insight as my prime glyphs. I still have Word of Glory too which I've been considering switching to Divine Favor for raids. Major glyphs are Divine Plea and Lay on Hands enhancements for the extra mana oomph.

My other holy spec is for Chimaeron. It maxes Holy Power and Word of Glory usage along with passive healing from PotI and EJ. It leaves out Cleansing and Aura Mastery which aren't really useful on the fight.

I switch my specs and glyphs around based on the content I'm running and my needs for the moment. I love fiddling with specs. I'm primarily a pve holydin, but I do know the basics of ret and prot as well.

Gem-wise, I've been going intellect since it boosts both output and mana. I'm pretty attached to my socket bonuses this expansion so I've been using Int/Spi and Int/Haste where needed. When it comes to holy paladin stats, there are two schools of thought: haste, and crit/mastery. Haste is more popular and is the build I prefer playing.

Discuss how you prepare for a new encounter.:
I mostly read log parses. I know it's weird, but I'm a visual/kinetic learner. I found I didn't get anything out of reading boss strats or watching videos. The information didn't stick to me until I could touch it. Then I discovered log parsing. I try to figure out damage patterns, I compare healing assignments between different guilds, look at paladin spell usage to guess at the talents they picked for that encounter. It's unconventional, but it works for me.

****The following questions are hypothetical****

You are a developer on Blizzard's raid creation team and are tasked with coming up with a new boss. Name and lore are not important at this point. What mechanics would your boss encounter use and why?:
One mechanic I'd love to see is a game I loved as a kid: the boss calls out a number and you need to group up in pools of that number. (So if he calls two, the raid needs to break up in groups of two).

I'd also like mechanics that call for a certain reaction to specific events, similar to Hodir, where some circles on the floor needed to be stood on at specific times, rays of light were to be stood in, if you have a specific buff, you need to touch people...

I just love fights with a lot of movement and where you have think "what am I supposed to do now?"

We have reached maximum raid size. The invites went extremely well and more than 10 people have signed up. The captains have tasked you with determining out who to take/bench. Explain what qualifications you would use to judge who participates.:
- Ability to work as a team, adjust to other players actions.
- Reliability (do they tend to leave half way through the raid? Randomly afk?)
- Situation awareness
- Raid participation (do they volunteer ideas? know what caused wipes?)
- Overall performance

You've finally been made a member of Team Sport! Unfortunately, (as stated in the last question) Team Sport has reached out maximum raid team size. What do you do?:
Well, I'm applying to be a standby/fill in raider, so it would make sense for me to take the night off to do dailies/do archeology/try to not hate my alts.

(When I was raiding full time, though, I'll admit that my raid spot was the one thing I was extremely possessive of. I didn't care about loot, being criticized, being disliked. But I fought hard for my raid spot.)

You're a raider now! Unfortunately the raid has gone through a particularly tough night of wipes on content we thought was on farm. The raid is irritable and ready to quit much earlier than usual. What should be done?:
Depending on the time of night, we should either call it early, or go do some silly content (Ulduar achievements, for example). Off nights happen to every team and when it's a rare occurrence, it's not a big deal.

If it's happening a lot, we'd need to see what the problem is. When farmed content is being wiped on by the same individuals who got the content on farm in the first place, it's not that we CANT do it, it's that something's in our way. Is there a moral issue (in a smaller team, one or two people feeling down can make a huge difference)? Are people tired? Bored? Do we need a new strategy?

I love seeing threads that review the current situation and where everyone contributes their thoughts and suggestions.
