re: The New Team Sport Raiding Era

0
This post serves as a declaration of where we stand right now, our plan of action, and the reasons we're doing the things we are. Team Sport has evolved a bit since the last time we progressed together, so we hope you'll come with us.

Progression

This hasn't changed. We're still pushing challenging content. We were doing really well in Dragon Soul before we all went on hiatus. We were the third guild on the server to kill normal Morchok, and the fifth guild to kill normal Yor'sahj. Yes, they were normal mode, but they represent the significant increase in our skills from when we were progressing in ICC and early Cataclysm raids.

We don't want to call ourselves a "hardmode guild" because of all the negativity that has been associated with that. However, we are a "progression guild". We're not satisfied with merely farming half of a tier without moving forward, and neither should you. It is our hope that you have a hunger and thirst for challenge in the same way we do.

We will push the team forward. We will work to make our team better, both inside and out. We will do this without belittling, brow-beating, or demeaning any of our members. We will be the nicest and friendliest guild to down progression content. That has always been our mantra, and it's still true today. The key is that everyone's on the same page with what our goals are. Again, the goal is progression in an awesome and fun environment. Joseph (Dankel) said it perfectly: There is this unspoken rule that a guild is either progression or fun/social; it cannot be both. We are changing that. We are both. We are that guild where you care about the other members around you and enjoy their company just as much (if not more) than playing the game itself.

Firelands & Dragon Soul

Because the community of our raid team is just as important as how we progress, we're focused right now on building our community. Through careful deliberation, we decided that we're sticking to Firelands for the time being. First, this allows some of the newer members to adapt and become comfortable with how we run things. Trust the people that are in charge and allow them to adjust to the presence of newer people. Second, it allows us to solidify our cohesion as a guild. We'll know who is capable of what skills and roles. We'll learn how we all interact during a raid. Third, it'll really let us discern who really wants to be a part of this team. No one is doing Firelands right now, but it's our training ground. Use it to hone your skills, learn your rotations, practice fast switching, etc. Once we get everyone caught up, we'll start working on Dragon Soul. We will have to PUG here and there, and that's to be expected. Remember, we've gotten several good people through PUG'ing: Jalla, Maulin, etc. We just have to keep at it.

Everything Else

Recruiting: We'll continue to hit Twitter, the forums, Trade Chat, recruitment sites, etc. It's a long and slow process, but we can absolutely do this. We will need your help, however. In the Member forums, there's a post containing recruitment info. Use it! Don't spam Trade Chat, but a post every now and then wouldn't hurt. Send them to this site so they can read the "How to Apply" and "Rules & Policies" info at the top. Bump the recruitment posts on the official forums. Post on Twitter with the #WoW hashtag. Remember that we have to open our recruiting doors a little wider than we did before. We need to encourage people to give us a shot, but we also have to be aware that there will be some people that obviously won't fit what the guild symbolizes. That's fine. We're willing to sift through some bad people to find a few amazing ones.

Up to you: Be involved. Be friendly. Use Mumble. Use the website. Remember, we're all creating an awesome environment here. There will be new people in the guild. PLEASE be welcoming and let them see how awesome this guild really is.
